2022 Gayming Awards Winners: The Full List

The 2022 Gayming Awards winners have been announced, with Life is Strange: True Colors beating out Boyfriend Dungeon, Psychonauts and Unpacking for Game of the Year.

The winners of the first-ever live gaming awards were announced on April 25 via a stream from London’s Troxy Theater. The night’s biggest winner was Life is Strange: True Colors, which triumphed in all three categories in which it was nominated. consisting of “Game of the Year”, “Authentic Depiction” and “Best LGBTQ Character”.

There were 11 categories in total, recognizing a selection of video games, tabletop games, comic books and esports players who championed diversity and inclusivity around the world in 2022. Additionally, Tanya DePass received the Gayming Icon Award in recognition of the positive impact the author and activist has brought to the LGBTQ community in gaming.

Ahead of the event, Gayming Magazine also added six streamers to its Rising Star class, new for 2022. The streamers were chosen to be part of this prestigious new class because they have all “made incredible strides in their streaming careers over the past year and have made significant contributions to the LGBTQ+ world in gaming.”

“It was a great honor to celebrate these amazing creatives tonight,” said Robin Gray, CEO and Founder of Gayming Magazine and the Gayming Awards, which originally launched as an online event in 2021. “In our second year of the award, it was important to us to once again recognize all LGBTQ representatives in the game and in the industry.”

Another game will take the coveted top spot in the Game of the Year category when the show returns in early 2023, with the ceremony moving to New York City for the 2023 Gayming Awards: Live on Broadway.
