Legendary Fleetwood Mac captain Mick Fleetwood turns 75 this week. Over the years, he has had a number of high profile relationships with three marriages under his rule
Few bands have achieved the international prestige and respect that Fleetwood Mac has, in no small part due to the talent of Mick Fleetwood.
Despite rumors that they might show up at Glastonbury in 2022, it now looks like they won’t be stepping out onto the Pyramid Stage.
A source close to the event told The Sun in 2019: “Michael Eavis is a huge fan and really wanted to make it a success.
“He knew it would be more special to get them on board for the 50th anniversary and the conversations were very positive.
“They even hinted at it on stage when they played Wembley in June, joking to fans that they still have, ‘a big yard to play at a rain festival in the UK next year’.”
In the end, Mick and the rest of the band didn’t think the pay was worth it, while other bands like The Rolling Stones made a net loss from the event.
Despite that, the band is still going strong and still selling millions of records, though it hasn’t always been easy for Mick.
Offstage, he’s been through some messy relationships, with one even inspiring a hit song after the breakup.
He has been through three marriages, with the current relationship status being the source of some speculation.
Mick’s first marriage was to Jenny Boyd, author, model, and sister of Pattie Boyd, the Beatles’ first wife, George Harrison.
They met when Jenny was 15 years old, then the couple got married in 1970.
They went on to have a tumultuous relationship, both dealing with cocaine addiction, and Jenny was even romantically involved with Fleetwood Mac guitarist Bob Weston.
They eventually divorced in 1976, but that was not the end of their relationship.
They eventually reconciled in 1977 and remarried during a tour of Ireland, until Mick revealed his affair.
In her book Jennifer Juniper: A Journey Beyond the Muse, she says of their meeting that year: “When he pulled a white packet from his waistcoat pocket, I tried not to show her disappointment. me”.
Then Mick said, “There’s something I have to tell you.” However, what he told her still came as a shock.
He explained: “I had an affair with Stevie [Nicks] in the last few months since we were in Australia. “
Since that time, the pair have remained friends.
After confessing to Jenny, Mick continues his affair with Stevie Nicks, who is also dating Don Henley.
On Oprah’s Master Class, Stevie said, “Mick and I would never have had an affair if we hadn’t had a party and we were all completely drunk, messed up, and you know, ended up again. were the last two at the party.
“Guess what? It’s not hard to figure out what happened – and what happened wasn’t a good thing. It was destroyed.
“It’s a thing that has perished, caused a lot of pain to people, and led to nothing.”
In the end, their love affair did not last long, when Mick and Jenny divorced in 1978 and he met Sara Recor soon after.
Sara was Stevie’s best friend at the time and when she found out, she was completely devastated, which led to her writing the hit song Sara.
Speaking to the Independent, Stevie said: ‘I have a very close friend named Sara who just went after Mick.
“And they fell in love, and the next thing, Sara’s husband was calling me to say, ‘Sara moved in with Mick this morning. And I just thought you might want to know.'”
Eventually, Mick and Sara married in 1988, though it didn’t last long as they divorced in 1992.
A year later, Mick met Lynn in 1993, and the two dated for two years before getting married in 1995.
They would be married for 20 years before divorcing in 2015 due to “irreconcilable differences” according to Mick over legal documents filed in the Los Angeles divorce case.
They filed for divorce in 2013, but it wasn’t finalized until two years later.
Is Mick Fleetwood dating now?
It looks like Mick has remained single since his divorce, with the rock legend not seen with a new partner nor announcing anything.
It looks like he’s focusing more on building bridges, as in 2021 he revealed he’d reconciled with old band pal Lindsey Buckingham three years after he was sacked out of the band.
Speaking to Rolling Stone, he said: “I really enjoyed reconnecting with Lindsey, a very polite and open person. And we’re both wonderfully honest about who we are and how we got to where we are. “
Mick was ousted from the band in 2018, prompting him to file a lawsuit alleging breach of fiduciary duty and breach of oral contract.
The case was later settled.
