3-year-old files police complaint against mom for ‘stealing his chocolate’ and wants her locked up

A 3-year-old boy in the central Indian state of Madhya Pradesh filed a complaint against his mother with police over the weekend after the parent reportedly took away his chocolate and sweets.

The infant, identified as Hamza by Hindustan Times, approached Dedhtalai Police Post under Khaknar Police Station in Burhanpur on Sunday afternoon. Hamza came after a fight with his mother, he said.

“His mother put on kajal [makeup] to his eyes after bathing him, but he disturbed her by insisting on eating chocolate, so his mother hit him lightly. Then he started crying and asked me to take him to the police station. So I brought him here,” Hamza’s father was quoted as saying by OpIndia.

Hamza told the officer in charge of the post, Sub-Inspector Priyanka Nayak, that his mother would steal his chocolates when he was at school, according to the outlet.

In addition, Hamza accused his mother of hitting him when he nagged her about chocolate and sweets.

“Mumma steals my chocolates, puts them in jail,” the toddler was heard, reportedly upset at the “theft,” cops say in an adorable video shared on social media.

That filming Shared by OpIndia, Nayak showed him writing on a piece of paper as Hamza attempted to submit his report.

The policewoman, who initially tried to dissuade Hamza from reporting him, was seen laughing during the encounter.

According to Nayak, Hamza tried to ensure his mother’s name was included in the complaint. However, the child does not know the real name of his mother, she said.

When the police officer asked his mother’s name, the toddler simply said “Mummy,” according to the Hindustan Times.

“Later I explained to him that his mother had no ill intentions and then he went home,” said Nayak, who noted the incident made people laugh.

Footage of Hamza going to the police has since gone viral on social media.

“Sweet, but it’s good that the children of our country know their basic rights… that the police are there to help them,” a social media user was quoted as saying in response to the video, according to a News18 report.

“This is the kind of education we need, even the little kids have to be brave enough to go to the police,” commented another person.
