5-month-old girl dies after being found in cardiac arrest at home when a man, 24, is arrested

A man has been arrested after a baby girl died after being found in cardiac arrest at home.
Baby Avery was just 5 months old when she passed away just before Christmas last year.
Police were called to a home in Intake, Sheffield, on Saturday, December 18, 2021, to reports of a baby in cardiac arrest.
The ambulance service was at the property and found the person to be completely unwell.
She was then taken to the hospital, but died tragically.
Police have now revealed that a 24-year-old man has been arrested in connection with her death.
He has since been released on bail, while the death investigations continue.
This week, Avery’s mother, who wished to remain anonymous, spoke about her grief after losing her daughter.
She told Yorkshire Live: “She passed away, but the night before she was no slouch and she was the funniest kid ever; kicking her feet and smiling like that.”
She added: “She giggled a lot, laughed a lot and she had big, bright blue eyes.
“From the day she was born, I’ve always called her beautiful, so every time she sits on her couch or in her armchair, I’ll tell her how beautiful she is. Come on and she’ll always smile and make her voice heard.”
A South Yorkshire Police spokesman said: “Police were called at 9.04am on Saturday 18 December (2021) to a home in the Intake area of Sheffield following reports from the outbreak. ambulance that a baby had a cardiac arrest.
“The girl was taken to the hospital, where she sadly passed away.
“Investigations into the incident are still ongoing and a 24-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident and has been released on bail.”
