The variety of dishes that make up the Queens mosaic is explored in an online exhibition through objects important to 50 chefs. Among those telling their stories were Adda’s Chintan Pandya with his skewers, and Warung Selasa’s Anastasia Tjahjadi (known as Dewi) with his volcanic stone mortar and pestle. Drew Kerr, a media consultant from Queens, created the project, photographing and interviewing the chefs with the help of Joe DiStefano, a Queens food journalist and journalist, and Jonathan Forgash, founder of Queens Together, a nonprofit that supports restaurants in the county. They do not receive remuneration for their work.
