6 MCU Phase 5 rumors ranked by likelihood of occurrence

February 2023 is a big month for the MCU as Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, the first project of Phase 5, is released. Given that it’s a comic book franchise, rumors are circulating that many Phase 5 projects will continue beyond Ant-Man 3.
Of course, given the sheer volume of rumors, most are just hopes and speculation, although there are definitely rumors that slip through the crack and turn out to be true. Let’s take a look at six of the more prominent MCU Phase 5 rumors that have some credibility behind them and whether they could actually become a reality.
Warning: Potential spoiler alert below. Some if not all of these rumors could be true, which would mean spoilers, so keep that in mind before proceeding.
6. Quake will take part in a secret invasion – probably

The first rumor on this list is one that was pretty common in the pre-Phase 5 era, that Agents of SHIELD’s Quake will be appearing in at least one episode of the Disney+ series Secret Invasion. Fans have been hoping for a while that Chloe Bennet’s Daisy Johnson would get another chance to be in the MCU, this time in a mainline project that only seemed like a pipe dream while it was being voiced.
Still, fans have been hoping and hoping, and they finally seem to be getting their reward, as Bennet has hinted she will be returning in a future project, leading many to believe Secret Invasion is the MCU installment in question. This is extremely reasonable as given the fact that the series is centered on Nick Fury the series would be an easy place to put Quake in the mainline MCU so there’s a good chance Daisy Johnson will end up in Secret Invasion .
However, there is an overall greater chance that she will later appear in at least one MCU project.
5. Punisher & Jessica Jones will star in Daredevil: Born Again – probably

Since the reveal that Charlie Cox’s Daredevil will be starring in the main MCU, fans of Marvel’s Netflix series have been clamoring for the return of fellow Defenders, namely Jessica Jones and Krysten Ritter Jon Bernthals punisher. This hope for more characters returning was fueled by the announcement that Daredevil would be getting his own series in Daredevil: Born Again, set to run for a whopping 18 episodes.
So while the rumor The fact that Jessica Jones and/or The Punisher will appear in Daredevil: Born Again comes a little more from fan requests, the rumor has also come from a few sources hearing their names in the mix.
Also, given that the series has 18 episodes, it would be quite odd not to show some funny cameos in the series as it requires a lot of content creation. At the end of the day, one, if not both, of these characters has a decent chance of returning to the MCU at least through a Disney+ show. 4. Sentry & Songbird will be in Thunderbolts – probably

There are two main rumored characters who were asked to appear in the MCU’s Thunderbolts film, Sentry and Songbird. First off, Post It has been suggested that it will appear in the MCU, possibly in Loki season two. At this point, it seems more likely that he would show up in Thunderbolts, possibly as an antagonist to the team of anti-heroes on whatever mission they were sent on.
Some scoopers have even heard that Sentry might actually be cast soon, meaning there’s a good chance this rumor will turn out to be true. As for songbird, Unfortunately, this one seems a little less likely than Sentry, although Songbird has a lot of history with the Thunderbolts team in the comics.
It would be odd if the character didn’t appear in the film as she’s probably their most signature member in the comics, perhaps leading to the rumor that she would be making her MCU debut in the film. However, many have theorized that The Bear’s Ayo Edebiri, who was recently cast in the film, will be playing the character, but this remains unconfirmed, so fans will have to wait and see as Songbird’s chances of being in the MCU surprisingly still remain stand in the air.
3. Wiccan & Wanda will star in Agatha: Coven of Chaos – Very likely

A WandaVision sequel, Agatha: Coven of Chaos is rumored to feature both LGBTQ+ character Wiccan and his mother, Wanda Maximoff. This rumor comes from Marvel Studios Actor Casting Joe Locke, as not only does he look like Wiccan, but his Heartstopper character draws significant comparisons to Billy’s.
However, Wiccan’s role in Agatha: Coven of Chaos remains rumored as Joe Locke’s character hasn’t been confirmed, but it makes perfect sense that a character so closely associated with Wanda would show up in a WandaVision spinoff. There definitely seems to be a definite possibility that the powerful wizard will be involved in the story.
Whether or not Wanda herself will appear in Agatha’s series is more of a fan inquiry than anything that has concrete evidence of it. Nonetheless, it would be disappointing for the series, which acts as a sequel to WandaVision, not to include an actual appearance for Wanda, so the idea of Wanda returning to the MCU even after her apparent death in Doctor Strange 2 certainly makes sense.
2. Ironheart will feature a variety of magical characters – very likely

Ironheart, a character introduced in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, is getting her own Disney+ series sometime in the second half of 2023. The show is set to explore who the character is after the Black Panther sequel while continuing to invent their own Iron Man suits, but one detail has fans quite intrigued, which is that The Hood will be a significant character in the series.
Given that The Hood is much more focused on the magical side of Marvel, it seems likely that Ironheart will have a science vs. magic emphasis, which is what prompted fans to do so theorize that more mystical characters could appear in the show. Exactly who these characters are will remain largely a mystery, although a big rumor has been floating around that Mephisto, who has long been rumored to be joining the MCU, is actually a character on the show.
We’re not going to spoil who supposedly plays the character here. Still, it looks pretty certain that the show will feature a variety of characters on both the scientific and magical sides, with another character reportedly making an appearance, Agatha Harkness.
1. A new GotG team will form in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 – Very likely

It has been reiterated numerous times that since Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is James Gunn’s final collaboration with the MCU, the team as audiences know it will be changed forever by the film’s conclusion. Dave Bautista in particular has been quite vocal about the fact that this will be the last time MCU fans will see his Drax.
However, nothing said so far has really implied that this will be the last time audiences see the team at large, which caused it rumours to spread the word that a new Guardians team will be formed sometime in the final moments of the film.
Now, exactly what that team will look like remains a matter of debate and likely won’t be resolved until the actual film comes out. Still, it seems quite likely that the new version of the team will feature Adam Warlock as the Marvel Comics main character is introduced in Guardians 3.
Whether this rumor is true or not, the fact that Marvel Studios and Gunn were careful with their wording, coupled with the fact that the Guardians of the Galaxy are a popular group in the MCU, seems quite likely that a new version of the team gets formed. Not to mention that with how a new Avengers cast will be introduced to audiences in Phase 6, now seems like the perfect time for the MCU to test the waters by forming a new Guardians team.
