A schoolgirl has died in hospital two days after being pulled from her Mallorcan hotel pool.
The seven-year-old Irish woman was on holiday in the island’s capital, Palma, when she was pulled motionless from the water and taken to an intensive care unit.
An investigation has been launched after the girl was pulled from the water at the four-star HYB Eurocalas hotel in the east coast resort of Calas de Mallorca.
The teen was taken to hospital “in critical condition” on Monday afternoon, with police clearing a path for their ambulance to get her there as soon as possible.
A spokeswoman for an emergency coordination center run by the regional government had said yesterday: “We took a call around 3.40pm yesterday/Monday to say that lifeguards had spotted a young girl lying motionless on the bottom of the pool and had submerged to save her.

“They performed CPR on her after pulling her out of the water because she went into cardiac arrest.
“Paramedics continued to try to revive her after they reached the scene and got her breathing again in the back of the ambulance.
“She was taken to Son Espases Hospital.”
The unnamed girl’s parents are said to have been supported by counselors.
Earlier this month, five-year-old Corey Aughey, from North Belfast, died in hospital after falling into the swimming pool at the hotel where he was staying with his family in the Mallorcan resort of Sa Coma, near Villa Love Island.

Freddie Joseph Briggs died in the pool at his childhood home in the village of Aigues, near Benidorm, on May 25, prompting the local council to declare a three-day mourning.
Tributes were paid to the 19-month-old boy at his funeral service at a church in Belfast, where he was christened, before being buried in a nearby cemetery.
Father Thomas McGlynn told mourners at the service the boy had brought happiness to those around him and enjoyed his short life “to the fullest”.
The child’s father, Marc Briggs, known to friends as Briggsy and believed to be from Mansfield, Notts, and mother Jane Mohan, who was born in Belfast, had moved to the Costa Blanca just before the tragedy.
On May 9, a Briton who had killed three other people in the past month drowned in a nearby river while trying to save his dog.
Former Royal Navy seaman Paul Lebihan, originally from Gateshead, died after getting into trouble in the river in a beautiful spot just a short drive from the Costa Blanca resort of Benidorm.
Friends and family later paid tribute to the 24-year-old avid amateur boxer and set up a GoFundMe appeal, which has already raised around half of its £15,000 goal to help his family bring Paul’s body home and help with funeral costs.
In the early hours of June 7, a British holidaymaker died after falling onto rocks in Sitges, south of Barcelona.
The 23-year-old man died immediately after losing his balance when he fell from a replica cannon outside a seaside church in an accident police said at the time.
