85% of Apex Legends players responded to direct feedback better than a complete ban

EA CEO Laura Miele said the game industry will build a better online community and it’s not as tough a challenge as one would expect.

At the annual DICE Summit, Miele delivered a keynote address covering a wide range of topics from hyper-reverse to the current state of the industry. One factor that Miele mentioned is how the game industry is uniquely positioned to improve all the supermarkets and burgeoning social networks that currently operate.

Miele cites EA’s work with games like Apex Legends and how communities improve themselves without bans or other sanctions. “85% of players who received feedback on their behavior under the Active Play rule changed their behavior. We don’t need to ban them. “

According to Miele, EA was able to improve its Apex Legends community by sending out a simple, personal email instead of an outright ban, and it led to positive change.

Apex Legends stats is an example Miele provided showing how the games industry can bring order to the metaverse. “We need some world order,” says Mile, “and no industry can do it better than us.”

Another active community tool Miele cites is the ping system in Apex Legends that could allow players to communicate non-verbally online with strangers. This ping system is one of the EA opened it up to allow other developers to use it royalty-free. “We can dare to do better. The ingenuity of game developers can have a significant impact on creating safer communities,” says Miele.

Miele’s full speech hitting on a wide range of topics and kicking off our first live DICE Summit since 2020. Over the past two years, we’ve seen the rise of concepts like the metaverse while the industry suffers shaken by sexual discrimination scandals at companies like Activision Blizzard.
