Brooklyn Beckham and Nicola Peltz are getting married in Miami

The eyes of the celebrity world were drawn across the Atlantic over the weekend as Brooklyn Beckham and Nicola Peltz tied the knot at an extravagant ceremony in Miami, Florida.

There, the 23-year-old groom and the 27-year-old billionaire heiress bride sealed their marriage with a six-second kiss in front of a crowd of family, friends and A-list celebrities.

But they’re not the first Beckhams to marry, of course — because David and Victoria became husband and wife on July 4, 1999 in front of a crowd of family, friends and A-list celebrities.

But while one was arguably a garish display of blank-check excess, the other was an over-the-top, garish children’s nightmare unleashed with crayons.

Here’s a look back at both of Beckham’s weddings… and both will likely be talked about for years to come.

The bride’s clothes

On Saturday night, the bride wore white – and Nicola walked down the aisle in a stunning bespoke gown by Italian fashion house Valentino.

The young bride’s dress included long-sleeved lace gloves, a dramatic train and cascading veil and is said to have cost a staggering £250,000.

In contrast, the American star’s new mother-in-law, Victoria, opted for a champagne strapless dress for her own big day in 1999.

Vicky also opted for a top designer, with her flowing, strapless princess dress, crafted by designer Vera Wang, with a £75,000 price tag attached.

The groomsmen

As a nod to his Essex roots, David opted for a white suit on his wedding day as he posed for photos and tied the knot with Spice Girl Victoria.

The football star got his blonde hair greasy and added a pop of color to his white outfit by pinning dried flowers to the lapels of his jacket – with his outfit by English designer Timothy Everett.

On his own wedding day, Brooklyn looked sharp in a Dior suit designed by British fashion designer Kim Jones, who is currently the French fashion house’s artistic director.

The celebrity offspring added a bit of bling to his outfit by adding a diamond necklace by Anita Ko to his suit jacket – featuring the jewels said to have been a gift from his billionaire in-laws.

While David and Victoria were obviously at both their own wedding and their eldest son’s, Brooklyn was at both weddings too — and was photographed holding dad David’s arm on the big day 23 years earlier.

Wedding celebration style

Vicky and Dave’s wedding was a glamorous affair overall – the duo had a Robin Hood-style wedding and reception.
After their wedding, the couple switched into bright purple outfits – Vicky wore an off-the-shoulder dress by Antonio with a dramatic floral print over one shoulder, and Dave wore a tonal suit by the same designer.

Baby Brooklyn didn’t escape the humiliation either, as he too was forced into the Quality Street-colored outfit and the parents also put a hat on him.

After growing up and getting married himself, the part-time chef and his new wife stayed in their wedding attire, but the next day they were dressed more casually in loose chinos and a white top for the second day of celebrations with Brooklyn. and Nicola wears a short white mini dress and high heels.

wedding venues

With Nicola’s father, a businessman, Nelson Peltz, who is said to be worth £1.3billion, he offered his daughter and now son-in-law one of his many homes to host their extravagant wedding.

The couple exchanged vows and celebrated at a £76million seafront mansion in Miami, adding three huge marquees to accommodate all guests and celebrations.

David and Victoria’s wedding took place at Luttrellstown Castle near Dublin. A team of wedding planners helped transform the grounds into a fairy grotto filled with forest flowers and ivy.

A marquee was also erected for the guests of the wedding in the late 1990s, where the celebrations could take place – but there was only one.

cake and decoration

Brooklyn and Nicola’s wedding anniversary reportedly cost £3million – which could be a trifle for the Peltz family, who are worth more than £1billion, or even for the Beckhams, whose own family fortune is said to be around £360million.

With money no object, it was clear the happy couple could afford to create a truly stylish and tasteful event – complete with antique candelabra and floral arrangements filled with roses, peonies, ranunculus and hydrangeas and white roses – while their wedding cake was a classic, six-tiered treat.

Victoria and David’s wedding day, by contrast, was a little…new.

They had a Robin Hood forest theme and matching velvet thrones – while the color schemes included green, purple and burgundy fabrics that presented something of an eyesore.

The payees also had a huge wedding cake meant to contain apples and ivy, and they used a sword to cut it in front of stunned guests.

A-list guests

David and Victoria may have stayed out of the limelight a bit in recent years, since he’s no longer a professional athlete and after she hung up her Spice Girls mic and got distracted trying to run her failing fashion business – but they were British Top stars in the 1990s.

As a result, their big day attracted a host of sporting icons and chart superstars – with Manchester United’s Gary Neville acting as David’s best man for the day, and all four bandmates from Vicky’s Spice Girls.

Brooklyn and Nicola’s wedding also drew an A-lit audience including American actress Eva Longoria, celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay and tennis icons Venus and Serena Williams.

While Mel B and Mel C both rocked to support the first Spice Baby to get married, Geri Horner and Emma Bunton stepped out, the former flying to Australia with her husband and the latter opting to stay at home in the UK.

The magazine fires

With so much thought and planning at both weddings, it’s perhaps not surprising that both couples wanted the world to see everything in the best possible light – and both have inked magazine deals to give fans access to their respective big days.

Victoria and David are believed to have received at least £1million from OK! Magazine for the rights to their wedding photos – which were shared in an issue of the magazine after the big day.

While Brooklyn and Nicola struck a deal with fashion bible Vogue to have their snaps splashed across a front page.

Reports over the weekend suggested the images will appear in the June issue of the magazine – which covers both the UK and US versions of the monthly glossy.
