Finsu is shaping the future of shopping. Through a state-of-the-art, technology-enabled review system, we bring together credible, ethical fashion brands with easily comparable reviews and profiles that intentionally make shopping quick and easy.
Conscious shopping has usually been a tedious and time-consuming task. Greenwashing is pervasive and people looking for sustainability are overwhelmed by the amount of information available that is far too complex, disjointed and scattered across the internet. In such a noisy room, it’s difficult to find out how sustainable a brand actually is, how it compares to others, and where to buy its products (without spending the whole day).
Launched in December 2021, our platform is the first online marketplace of its kind powered by our comprehensive impact assessment tool. Shoppers can easily filter brands based on their practices, compare conscious testimonials, and shop online. With easy-to-understand data, users can make more sustainable decisions in seconds.
Through our platform, buyers can find products from both emerging “eco-champions” who are redefining industry standards by building responsible value chains from the ground up, and well-known brands that are making real progress toward science-based sustainability goals. Through this inclusive approach, we aim to enable conscious shopping for everyone while ensuring brands deliver on their sustainability promises and get the recognition they deserve.
How did you come up with the idea for the company?
Julius did his PhD on the sustainability reporting of large companies and realized that finding sustainable things online takes far too much time and effort. Frederik worked in corporate law and never seemed to have enough time to do the research required for shopping better, although he did care about its impact. Over time, we both felt a growing sense of climate anxiety and helplessness.
And we are not alone. The heightened urgency surrounding the climate crisis has seen the UK’s ethical consumer markets reach a record £122bn in 2020, accelerating this transition.
So we decided to team up and make it our mission to help consumers find sustainable fashion in a thorough and reliable, yet super fast and easy way. We believe that “all things are equal” and people will choose the ethical option. Finsu is designed to break down the barriers to sustainable fashion and make it as easy as fast fashion. In the end, convenience always wins, so Finsu makes conscious shopping so much more convenient.
What makes Finsu different from other companies?
Many brands around the world, big and small, are taking actionable steps to reduce their impact. be it fighting climate change, how they pay and treat their workers, supporting animal welfare, or their charitable contributions and community involvement.
Consumers welcome these initiatives, but the need to research each brand individually before deciding to support them is proving to be a strong obstacle.
We recognize the brands that are transforming their processes to work toward a greener fashion industry and provide a one-stop shop to help consumers see it in seconds. We’re not just your daily shopping portal, fashion research directory, or standalone blog for top-notch sustainability content. We are all of these in one, and more.
What can we expect from Finsu in the future?
We launched in the UK a few months ago and have plans to expand across Europe and internationally. We’ll be announcing new partnerships with brands and tech companies, and introducing exciting new features to make conscious shopping with Finsu even more seamless.
Most importantly, you’ll see how we’re working as hard as we can to accelerate the movement away from fast fashion and towards a globally sustainable future.
