A fast-food delivery driver who kidnapped and raped a 17-year-old girl was sentenced today to 15 years in prison.

Mohammed Khan was described by the judge as a “dangerous offender” who had subjected other women to predatory sexual abuse.

Luton Crown Court heard Khan, 37, grabbed the drunk teenager in the street on the night of August 28 last year in Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire.

She had been drinking with friends and lying on the sidewalk while waiting for her stepfather to pick her up.

Prosecutor Peter Shaw said: “The defendant discovered her when she appeared to be at her worst drunk outside the Primark store.

“He got out of his car and put her on the passenger side of the vehicle.

“He drove her away from the crime scene and, over the course of about an hour, subjected her to various rapes and sexual assaults.”

He abused her as he drove her away, then stopped the car and raped her, ignoring her pleas to stop.

During the ordeal, the girl’s concerned mother rang her phone.

Her stepfather spent an hour locating her and eventually picked her up outside the bathroom shop in Hemel Hempstead around 11pm after Khan let her go.

CCTV was used to trace a car heading to Khan’s hometown of Chesham and Khan was asked to come to the police station.

He denied any sexual contact, but his DNA was found in her sweatpants.

He claimed he acted as a good Samaritan.

Khan, from Chesham, was convicted of kidnapping, two counts of rape and one count of sexual penetration.

In a personal statement from the victim, the teenager said she used to feel safe when she was out, but no longer.

She spends more time at home because she is afraid to go out.

Khan had 21 prior convictions for 29 offenses, none of which were sexual.

But Mr Shaw said on March 4, 2021, Khan had received a child abduction alert in relation to a 13-year-old girl he contacted on Snapchat, where he posed as a 19-year-old.

When they met, he touched her thigh.

On July 1, 2014, a 15-year-old girl reported that he approached her on the way to school and insisted on getting her phone number.

On July 17, he approached her again, and the next day he turned to another 15-year-old and said, “Do you want to be my friend?

“Come on baby, you’re really cute.”

Mr Shaw said: “It is alleged that he has approached young girls, often when he is in his car.

“He lies about his age. He gives false names. The present case shows that he is an opportunistic sex offender who will exploit vulnerable girls or women.”

Judge Lynn Tayton QC told him he “specifically targeted” the victim.

The judge saddened: “She was a vulnerable young woman lying on a sidewalk. She had been drinking and as a result was repeatedly unconscious.” She said the victim suffered severe mental damage.

The judge continued: “A significant number of women have alleged sexual and predatory behavior on their part. I consider you a most dangerous man.”

Khan was jailed for 15 years with an eight-year license extension.

He must register as a sex offender and comply indefinitely with the terms of a sex harm prevention order.
