A List stars arrive at ‘beautiful and moving’ memorial to Helen McCrory

The Peaky Blinders and the Harry Potter actress passed away last year after a battle with cancer. Friends and family gathered for a memorial service in London on Friday.

Helen McCrory says she’s ‘living life at 150 mph’ in 2020

The stars of A List have gathered together and with grieving widow Damian Lewis to celebrate the life of his late wife, Helen McCrory.

Helen – who married Damian, 51 in 2007 – tragically passed away last year at the age of 52 after a secret battle with cancer.

She passed away at her home in London on 16 April 2021 at a time when the UK was still in the grip of the Covid-19 pandemic.

On Friday, several stars went out to celebrate the life of the actress and mother-of-two in a ceremony held at St Paul’s Church in Covent Garden – attended by Damian and her children. Manon, 15 years old, and Gulliver, 14 years old.

Successor Matthew McFadden and his wife, Finding Alice star Keeley Hawes, were among the attendees at the event.

While Helen’s Harry Potter co-stars Helena Bonham Carter and Ralph Fiennes were also present – with celebrities hiding under umbrellas to avoid the rain when they arrived.

Daily Mail published the photos among celebrities who attended the memorial and reported the hour-long event and saw Helen’s daughter Manon reading a book, while her son, Gulliver, also played guitar during the ceremony.

Beethoven’s Ode to Joy was played as the ceremony began and was followed by a prayer and hymn Guide me, Great Savior.

Maya Angelou’s poem, Touched by an Angel, was received at the event and Bob Dylan’s poem To Be Alone with You was also featured.

One guest told the publication: “It was absolutely amazing, and Damian organized it wonderfully despite his grief. Gully plays the guitar and Manon reads and all the other actors who played with her, and of course the director of her first play in the Country, are here.

“We know that she has been ill for a very long time. Having fought her way, Peaky Blinders, other plays. She only has one arm – the surgery severed the nerve.

“And in the end, she dies at home with Damian and everyone around her just arranging everything, including this [the memorial]. ”

A close friend added: “It was just the most beautiful memento. It’s touching. Withering.”

Peaky Blinders actors Joe and Finn Cole, who play Helen’s on-screen nephew and son John and Michael Shelby, were among the guests.

And other guests include Eddie Redmayne, Benedict Cumberbatch and Natascha McElhone.

Damian announced Helen’s shocking death last year in a heartbreaking statement: “It is with great sadness that I announce that after a heroic battle with cancer, the beautiful and courageous woman Helen McCrory has passed away. passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by waves of love from friends and family.”

He added: “She died while she was alive. It was terrifying. God we love her and know how lucky we are to have her in our lives. She was shining brightly. brilliant.
