A-list stars avoid events before the Oscars for fear of contracting Covid before the big ceremony

Many stars have avoided appearing at events in LA for fear of getting Covid ahead of Sunday’s Oscars, and others have flown their entire families just to have them test positive.

Even the Oscars are not proof of the pandemic.

As the stars were told they could not attend if they had tested positive for Covid within five days of tomorrow’s awards, the panic among them was growing.

Over the past few days, Goss has seen many celebrities choose not to attend events in LA for fear of getting sick before the big night.

Others flew in the family to watch their big moment unfold, only to have them test positive and head to their hotels.

One A-list journalist told Goss: “Many of our clients are very contemplative about what Oscars weekend parties are coming – or whether they will go to any – because simply It wasn’t worth it for them to risk being there on such a big night in their careers. “

Guests are required to present proof of immunization status as well as a negative PCR test result.

One nominee told us: “I brought my parents here and now they have Covid.

“We’re checking every day and just hoping they’ll be fine.”

Other A-listers, including Benedict Cumberbatch, have stayed away from the pre-Oscar parties altogether – partly for work but also to reduce risk, flying in just before the event instead.

An insider said: “Benedict is busy working on another piece and doesn’t have time to go to the pre-Oscar parties, but that’s probably for the best as he can’t get sick.

“It’s really a case of getting in and going out as soon as possible.”

Other stars, including director Jane Campion’s The Power of the Dog, are being tested several times a day.

Another source said: “Jane is being tested three times a day, as are the other actors. None of the nominees wanted to miss a pivotal moment.

“They can’t take the risk of going to pre-Oscar events.”
