A man’s body was found in Dublin’s Royal Canal as Gardaí launched an investigation

Gardaí are investigating the circumstances surrounding the discovery of a man’s body retrieved from the waters of Dublin’s Royal Canal earlier this morning.

The tragic discovery was made at around 12.30pm at Ballybough Bridge.

The man’s remains were removed from the water and taken to the City Morgue at Whitehall, Dublin 9, where a post-mortem will be carried out in due course.

An investigation of the crime scene took place.

A Garda spokesman said Gardaí are investigating all circumstances surrounding the incident.

“Gardaí in Mountjoy encourages anyone who has seen anything unusual in the area or can help to contact Mountjoy Garda Station on 01.666.8600, the Garda Confidential Line on 1.800.666.111 or any Garda station.”

The investigations are ongoing.
