A million Brits could miss booked summer holidays due to delays in passport processing

ALMOST a million Britons could miss a booked summer holiday due to delays in passport processing, experts say.
The odds of a “successful and timely renewal” are estimated at two to one.
Raids could cost £1.1billion if cancelled travel this summersaid the Center for Economics and Business Research.
The passport office has asked the public to do so request documents ten weeks in advance when demand recovers from the pandemic.
PM Boris Johnson last week threatened to “privatize the ass” from the department if its performance doesn’t improve.
Home Secretary Kevin Foster said the government was “confident” it would not have to extend the 10-week target for processing inquiries.
Shadow Home Secretary Yvette Cooper told voters: “They fear their honeymoon could now be ruined because their passports have not arrived despite applying on time”.
She added: “We’ve had cases of job terminations, parents trying to get leave for a sick child since January, long delays by the passport office and contractor TNT.”
