Newly released images from the upcoming series The Crown show Elizabeth Debicki convincingly leading Diana, Princess of Wales as she stars alongside Dominic West.
The fifth series of Netflix’s hit royal drama will premiere on November 9.
In the latest look at the new series, 32-year-old Australian actress Debicki can be seen playing Diana in two scenes.
In one image, Debicki transforms into a discreet and crouching Diana as she wears a sparkly blue two-piece dress and holds a bouquet of flowers.
The outfit is a spitting image of the dress Diana wore to the Serpentine Gallery fundraiser gala, hosted by Vanity Fair magazine, in 1995.
The Night Manager actress Debicki replaces Emma Corrin as Diana, while The Wire West star (52) takes over the role of Charles from Josh O’Connor.
Elsewhere, Debicki transforms into the late princess on a small boat, alongside young Charles and Prince William and Harry.
All the characters are dressed in comfortable clothes and wear sunglasses.
Speaking to Netflix website Tudum about taking on the role of Diana, Debicki said: “It’s great to be playing these people at this point, because in The Crown’s journey so far in all the seasons , this is the most visual content. We have the royal family’s.
“In the ’90s, everything started filming and that was also the birth of the 24-hour news cycle so we had access to this incredible amount of content.
“Diana was the most photographed person in the world at the time. As an actor, you open the gate and this massive tsunami of information hits you. I happily swim around in it.”

Hinting at a development in the plot surrounding Charles and Diana’s broken marriage, an image shows West as Charles gleefully looks up at what appears to be a fireworks display alongside a cheerful-looking Camilla – played by Olivia Williams.
“Charles and Camilla seem to have a very healthy sense of humor about what sometimes has to be an intolerable difficult situation, and that’s what I wanted to show the most,” Williams said.
Also in the newly announced selection of images, fans get a closer look at Imelda Staunton, who has taken on the role of the Queen from Olivia Colman.
Lesley Manville can also be seen as Princess Margaret looking increasingly depressed – a role she took on from Helena Bonham Carter.
The Crown was scheduled to end after the fifth series, but the show’s creator and screenwriter Peter Morgan later said it would be expanded to include a sixth series.
Filming of the latest series of The Crown has been halted to mark the respects following the Queen’s death. Filming was also suspended on the day of her funeral.
The Crown’s fifth series premieres on Netflix on November 9.
