Gearbox has announced that a brand new Tales from the Borderlands game will be released by Gearbox and 2K in 2022, and it promises a new adventure, new characters, and “new stories.”
Announced during Gearbox’s Pax East 2022 panel by CEO Randy Pitchford, this new game will be fully revealed over the summer, but in the meantime the first teaser image has been shared.

Released in 2014 by Telltale Games, Tales from the Borderlands told a story set between the events of Borderlands 2 and Borderlands 3 and followed two unreliable narrators – Rhys and Fiona – as they searched for a vault and encountered fan-favorite Borderlands characters like Claptrap .
In our review of the first of five episodes of Tales from the Borderlands, we said: “With just a quick introduction to Rhys and Fiona, they’ve already become a couple of my favorite Telltale characters and the fantastic final scene of Zer0 Sum has longingly for my return journey waiting for Pandora.”
Telltale Games as it was then no longer exists, and Gearbox Software is instead developing the game entirely in-house. 2K Games handles the publishing.
This new Tales from the Borderlands follows Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands as Gearbox’s next game. In our review of Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands, we said it’s a fantasy-themed Borderlands spin-off that’s hilarious, action-packed, and ridiculous, even if it’s a bit on the safe side.”
