He spent his first year of life in excruciating pain – and without surgery, it will only get worse.
Little Flash was diagnosed with severe hip dysplasia in his rear left hip, to the point where his hip regularly pops in and out of the socket.
While living at Jerry Green Dog Rescue in North Lincolnshire, the Lurcher was put on strong painkillers – but vets say surgery is his only chance at a “normal, happy life”.
A spokeswoman said: “When Flash first arrived, his uneasiness was evident from the start. We immediately signed him up for x-rays, which showed our fears were correct and Flash had a long way to go.
“His pain is difficult for us to imagine. This means that normal life is currently not possible for Flash, he cannot enjoy long walks, running around or chasing a ball, even small exercises are painful. Flash can’t go on like this.

“The surgery and follow-up care will be extremely expensive and will place a significant financial burden on our charity, but Flash is only 13 months old, a sweet and loving boy and we just have to give him this chance.
Although there is no guarantee the operation will work, the rescue center has set up a donation page where supporters can donate as much or as little as possible.
They are also looking for an adult-only foster home with no existing pets where he can recover from his surgery in peace.
The spokeswoman told The Mirror: “His movement must be very restricted for a time after the operation, if left in a kennel he could easily injure himself and we are struggling to find one at all.
“The foster home has to be close to our vets in Brigg for follow-up care and all expenses while he’s in foster care will be covered by Jerry Green.”
Jerry Green Dog Rescue has been working to transform the lives of abandoned and unwanted dogs for nearly 60 years.
Founded by dog lover Jerry Green, the rescue center opened its first location in North Lincolnshire in 1961.
A further three locations have since opened – one in South Yorkshire, East Yorkshire and Nottinghamshire.
This allows the dogs to roam at any location if they are unable to secure their home in their original placement forever.
A spokeswoman said: “All dogs deserve a good life and a safe, loving home. We exist to offer homeless dogs a safe place and to find new loving places for them to live in.”
They follow the motto: “Once a Jerry Green dog, always a Jerry Green dog.”
