he Royal Canal Greenway opened in March 2021 with much fanfare. The 130km trail begins in Maynooth and follows the 225 year old canal through Enfield, Mullingar and on to Cloondara in Longford. Enfield residents have embraced the revived amenity as well as the new amusement park being built alongside it on the waterfront on the outskirts of town.

Enfield has long been known as a commuter town, catering mainly to first-time buyers who have been squeezed out of the Dublin market. However, as the city has evolved, more and more types of shoppers have made the decision to step out of Dodge and get even more bang for their buck.

Most needs are now catered for in Enfield itself with SuperValu and Tesco Express furnishing shops, as well as independent shops such as butchers, hairdressers, restaurants, cafes and a selection of schools.

The recent release of Oakley Park in the city has attracted some types of buyers, according to Knight Frank agents, with first-time buyers from surrounding areas and those commuting from Dublin now having the opportunity to work remotely for a few days a week. There are also downsizers looking for a smaller, A-rated home that’s more efficient to run.

Developed by Pivotal Construction in conjunction with architects Fewer Harrington and Partners, the project was designed with our new way of life in mind. It will consist of 72 A rated homes which will be a mix of two bed with a study and three bed end terraces and semi-detached houses.
