A recent box office bomb is finally finding its footing at the top of Disney+

Move over to Home Alone, Avatar and Encanto as there’s a new number one at the top of the Disney+ charts: Strange World. The holidays are a time to curl up and catch a few movies with the family, and it seems like the film is getting a boost from all the people who haven’t seen it in theaters when it’s on this one Thanksgiving weekend was released.
Corresponding Flix Patrol, Strange World is currently number one on the Disney+ charts, with countries like New Zealand, Argentina and Spain accounting for the majority of views. Released earlier this year, the computer-animated sci-fi adventure film was directed by the same team that made Big Hero 6 and Encanto and stars Jake Gyllenhall, Dennis Quaid, Gabrielle Union, Lucy Liu and Jaboukie Young-White.
Strange World takes inspiration from some old sci-fi stories like Journey to the Center of the Earth or King Kong, in an adventure in a world below them. A unique strange world full of creatures trying to kill the main characters. The film is also the story of three generations of the same family and how each affects the next, for better or for worse.
Despite the star power and interesting concept, Strange World was a box office failure, earning only $18.6 million from it reported $180 million budget. It currently has one Rotten tomatoes Rated 73% by critics and 67% by audience.
