A sneaky WhatsApp trick lets you read messages without your friends knowing

It’s easy to feel a little bombarded by WhatsApp messages.
Sometimes you might want to dive into a text and read it without alerting others that you’re online.
You can turn off read receipts and even stop showing your last seen messages.
But if you’d rather leave these on and still get a sneak peek at the messages you’ve received, there’s another way.
TikToker @ojtechhd showed how easy it is.
But you need an Android phone to be able to pull it off.
And it has everything to do with widgets.
On most Android devices, all you have to do is press and hold your home screen and select Widgets.
You can then search for WhatsApp.
This will add a WhatsApp widget to your home screen.
It’s a small box that you can scroll through to preview the messages.
And all without opening the main WhatsApp app and officially announcing your presence.
So next time why not give it a try.
While iPhone users don’t have such a widget just yet, it might at some point in the future.
Apple has only allowed widgets on their smartphone for a long time.
It came as part of the huge iOS 16 update.
For now, you can just slide down for notifications.
It’s not that clear or useful, but a good workaround until a widget shows up.
There is one more trick you can try.
If you turn on Airplane mode, you can go into the app and read the messages without being detected.

Just make sure you exit the app before turning data back on.
