A Sussex police officer appears to be beating a man who is being held on the bus

A VIDEO has emerged in which a police officer appears to be beating a man while he is being held on a bus.

Police have been called to a report of an abusive passenger on a bus in Eastbourne.

The passenger reportedly refused to pay the fare and exit the bus, police said.

“When officers arrived the man continued to insult other passengers and officers,” said a Sussex Police spokesman.

“He was detained and detained on the bus and warned by officers not to attack them.

“He was removed from the bus and charged with assaulting a police officer and engaging in threatening or abusive behavior that could result in harassment, alarm or distress.”

A video of the incident has since been posted on social media.

A police officer can be seen in the video who appears to hit the man on the head while holding him down.

The man can be heard yelling, “Why are you always trying to victimize me? you hurt my hand You’re breaking my hand.”

The officer replies, “Stop pinching me.”

The spokesman added, “Our professional standards department is actively reviewing actions taken by officers, including footage of the incident and body-worn videos recorded by officers.”

The Stagecoach bus was reportedly parked next to the Arlington Arms pub in Eastbourne at the time of the incident.

Sussex police are also looking for witnesses to the incident.

“We are aware of video showing interaction between police officers and an arrested man on a bus in Eastbourne,” the spokesman said.

“Anyone who witnessed the incident or has relevant footage can report it to Sussex Police using serial number 1538 dated 16/07. quote.”
