A TEENAGER has spoken of his shock after seeing mince pies at his local Sainsbury’s – in September.
Archie Sherwood Keevins said he was stunned when he saw the Christmas treat at the supermarket in Keymer Road, Hassocks last week.
The mince pie-crazy 13-year-old quickly grabbed a six-pack of the pies after seeing them on the shelves.
“I saw the packaging with what looked like trees and balls on it and couldn’t believe my own mince pies,” he said.
“The box had Christmas colors and the cakes all had trees on them.
“Of course I bought them straight away because who doesn’t love mince pies?
“I mocked them all pretty quickly, but I was more than a little surprised to see that they wouldn’t have made it to the big day anyway.”
A spokesman for Sainsbury’s said: “Every year we stock some festive products ahead of the main Christmas event.
“We will be adding items by Christmas and the vast majority of our products have a best before date after Christmas.”
Archie said, “It’s not even Halloween yet and I’m eating mince pies.”
