“They are [the DWP] make me feel like giving up.

“I can’t get any help. I do everything they asked me to do and get rejected. They have told me to use various services, but I am not entitled to them.

“My mother was diagnosed with end-stage lung cancer and a brain tumor that turned cancerous. She was treated at the end of her life. I visited my mother every day to make sure she knew someone was with her, so that she never felt alone but, above all, loved.”

Siobhan says when her mother’s condition worsened, she struggled at work and lost her job as an electrical engineer.

She adds that she discovered she was pregnant months before her mother died and tragically suffered a miscarriage.

She added: “As an electrical engineer, I couldn’t focus on wiring things at work.

“I either electrocuted myself or sent in a device that wasn’t working properly and I was always upset at work.

“I ended badly. I didn’t know I was pregnant and had a miscarriage. My mother died on April 26th and I only managed to bury her on June 10th.”

Siobhan, who is currently on Employment and Assistance Allowance (ESA), claims she applied for a grant before the funeral, but her application was rejected by the DWP.

Since then she has set one up GoFundMe Complaint in the hope of being reimbursed.

“I wasn’t sure if I should set up Gofundme, but I did and published it and it was amazing to see people donating.”

A Department for Works and Pensions (DWP) spokesman said Siobhan has since received a personal independence payment and will receive a lump sum payment of over £1,000.

In a statement, DWP said: “The death of a loved one can be very distressing and our sincere condolences go out to Ms Demetriades.
