A27 partially closed at Patcham and traffic standstill

Motorists face a traffic standstill and part of the A27 is closed.

An ongoing police incident means the eastbound A27 is closed at Patcham and traffic is at a standstill.

The incident occurred between the A23 London Road and Carden Avenue at the Hollingbury/Ditchling junction.

The A27 is reportedly closed in both directions between the A23 and the A270.

Brighton and Hove Police tweeted: “We are currently dealing with an incident at the A27 bridge near the Coldean Lane / Ditchling Road area

“Drivers are asked to avoid the area if possible.”

Sussex Police have been contacted for comment.
