Aaron Connolly has returned to the Republic of Ireland Under-21 squad – almost three years after his first senior call-up.
The Albion striker, on loan at Venezia, is now 22 but still qualified for the 21st in the current qualifying campaign.
He was promoted to the senior team in October 2019 and then managed by Mick McCarthy after scoring twice at home against Tottenham on his Premier League debut.
Since then his career has stalled and he is in the UEFA European Championship play-offs next week in the UEFA European Championship two-legged play-offs.
Connolly appeared to hint in a recent interview that he had played his last game for Albion.
Whether that changes when a new manager or head coach is appointed remains to be seen.
