Accident involving three vehicles on the A27 near Hammerpot
Part of the A27 has been closed after a three vehicle crash in freezing conditions.
The crash happened in Hammerpot, west of Worthing, around 9.30pm last night.
Three vehicles were involved in the accident and no one was injured.
Sussex Police closed the road to ensure the road was safe for other vehicles. It has since reopened.
The A27 is closed in both directions between Long Furlong and Offington Corner in Worthing due to the freezing conditions.
It is unclear when it will reopen.
The lockdown caused severe delays for motorists this morning as people attempted to divert through Clapham and Angmering.
Also on the A27, a driver died last night after crashing into a police car between Fontwell and Arundel.
The road remains closed while Sussex Police investigate.
Dozens of vehicles have crashed across the county today, many due to black ice on the roads.
Temperatures will hit freezing every night through Friday, according to the Met Office.
