Kotick is at the center of fallout from a lawsuit filed by the California Department of Fair Employment and Housing alleging that Activision Blizzard encouraged a “fraternity boy” culture that exposed female employees to sexual harassment, unequal pay and more.
Another report claimed Kotick had known about these allegations “for years,” and over 1,000 Activision Blizzard employees responded by signing a petition to have Kotick removed from the company.
The deal between Activision Blizzard and Microsoft isn’t scheduled to close until “sometime during Microsoft’s fiscal year 2023, ending June 30, 2023,” meaning many details are obviously still being worked out.
