Emmerdale’s Alexander Lincoln revealed his difficult filming schedule on ITV.

Alexander has played Jamie Tate on the popular show until 2021, and he admits filming for such a long time and having to jump between shots was tough as he pulled back the curtain on the show.

He explains how soap actors get a “bad” reputation – but he admits acting for soap can be really “intense” and recalls a particular shooting date he He had to shoot 19 scenes in one day.

That’s something he says is in stark contrast to other shows he’s filmed where they only do two or three scenes a day.

“As you said, soap actors have terrible rapping, but it’s one of the most stressful jobs I think you can do with acting. It’s 10/11 hours a day. I filmed 19 scene one day, that’s crazy,” he said in a conversation with Entertainment Spotlight.

“I did this recently for the BBC and they would shoot maybe two or three scenes a day, in comparison, you’re like, ‘oh my gosh, that’s amazing!’ You’ll be in every one of them. The 19 scenes are the same, every night you go home and study the lines and you worry about the next day because you haven’t really had a chance to finish it.”

Speaking of the positives, he added: “But in the same brushstroke, you know the personality inside and out because you’ve been playing it for so long. It all has its ups and downs.”

However, Alexander admits it made him very nervous when he had to spend time filming for other shows.

He explains, “Soap work is routine, and in acting in general you never get regular work. Going from intense 10 to 11 hours a weekday to working on a project in a month, maybe less… your downtime is a lot longer in between.

However, the Emmerdale character is still very alive

“For me, it’s about finding a hobby in the meantime because you can get too worried about what’s next. I find myself not focusing on downtime and enjoying it, and just sit with it and experience life as it is.”

Emmerdale fans believe Jamie could return to the ITV channel, after they found out he was alive. Jamie is presumed dead after a car crash – but his body was never found.

However, Kim Tate is still in the dark about Jamie’s still alive and there could be fireworks if she finds out.
