Actors Damian Lewis and William Roache prepare to receive royal titles

Actors Damian Lewis and William Roache, and AstraZeneca chief executive Sir Pascal Soriot are among those to be honored at an investment ceremony on Wednesday.

Rench-born Sir Pascal will be knighted for his contributions to the UK’s life sciences and response to Covid-19 at a ceremony at Windsor Castle, after his company developed a vaccines and send billions of doses around the world.

Lewis, star of award-winning shows Homeland and Brothers Band and who has started fundraising to provide NHS staff with healthy meals, will become the CBE for film services television and charity; while Roache, who holds the world record for longest-running television actor with a recurring role as Ken Barlow on Coronation Street, will be awarded an OBE.

Director Sir John Boorman, who during a career spanning five decades has been nominated for five Academy Awards and won two Cannes Best Director awards, will be knighted for his contributions to cinema.

Paralympic athletes Karen Tonge and Sophie Wells and TV presenter Matt Baker were also honored.

Tonge, president of Para Table Tennis, will become the OBE to cater to Paralympic table tennis after years of promoting the sport at the grassroots level.

Paralympic Wells, who won a gold medal at the 2012 London Paralympic Games, will also be named an OBE for her contributions to equestrianism.

Baker, who raised £2 million for Children In Need by cycling from Edinburgh to London, will be awarded an MBE for charity and volunteer services to raise funds. Actors Damian Lewis and William Roache prepare to receive royal titles
