BBC Radio 1’s DJ Adele Roberts says she “will have to marry” her partner Kate Holderness, who has been her “strength” and caretaker during her battle with stomach cancer.
The presenter, 43, revealed in October she was being treated for stomach cancer and then had surgery to remove the tumor.
Speaking to Naga Munchetty on BBC Radio 5 Live, Adele said of her girlfriend: “We have become stronger and closer and that made me realize what an incredible human being she is.
“She is my strength and without her, I don’t think I would be this optimistic. I think it will really affect my morale… but every morning I see Kate, I just feel lucky to wake up with her every day.

“She has become my caregiver a lot. She has gone beyond what a relationship should be and she is everything to me. She helped me put on my clothes. She cares about me. She is my nurse. She is my advisor. She really loves me.
“I will have to marry her.
“I think I admire her a lot now. I always knew she was special. And I knew she was a good person. But now … she’s someone I look to inspire. “
Adele is currently using a stomatal bag attached to her abdomen and collecting her stool, and is also receiving chemotherapy.
Reflecting on her diagnosis, she told Munchetty: “When I was first diagnosed, my initial thought was, ‘Am I going to die?’ and my second thought was, ‘Is it my fault?’.
“I think since the day I was diagnosed, I’ve been on this treadmill, just trying to move forward, not looking back…”

Adele also spoke about podcast host Dame Deborah James, who recently revealed she is in hospice care after being diagnosed with bowel cancer in 2016.
“It hit me really hard,” she said.
“I feel a bit selfish saying it because it’s not about me. It’s about Deborah.
“The sad reality of what she’s going through, but then seeing how strong she is and giving back to people in a time of need. (I) don’t know how she does it. She’s amazing. And it’s just that I’m excited to see that journey unfold.”
