FURIOUS fans last night asked Adele to refund them for trips to Las Vegas after she canceled her Caesars Palace status just hours before she took the stage.
Tickets to the British star – whose hits include Chasing Pavements and Hello – have sold for up to £20,000.
But in a tearful video, she said 24 gigs, jointly called Weekends with Adele, were successful because Covid hit her backstage team.
If they can’t fit in the two gaps in the hotel’s calendar, they could be pushed back to next year.
Fans say they should have more announcements. Ali Anari, from the US, complained on Instagram: “We took time off work, paid for hotels and flights. We are in Vegas for the show and now we have nothing. Refund us for our hotel and flight would be great. . . ”
Photographer Miles Delmar added: “Seriously? Postpone if you need to, that’s fine – but 28 hours ago? I flew this morning. Are you going to refund me for the flight, hotel and required rapid Covid test? This is hard to believe. ”
A fan named Veronica said she paid £150 for the hotel and £440 for tickets. She told Adele: “I’m not trying to make you feel worse, but we’re normal people. I just don’t understand how/why you couldn’t tell us a week ago.
“Most hotels have a 72-hour cancellation policy. I have been informed that I will be charged the full amount.
“If the show isn’t ready, why not tell us three days ago? One week ago? How can you justify waiting until 24 hours before the show, just to give us nothing? “
Insiders say staff working on the program have also been given little notice. A source said: “Some were as shocked as the fans.
“Many of them were told just minutes before Adele’s announcement that all their hard work was in vain.
“There are two times in the calendar this year, from late February to early May, and from mid-June to mid-September. But if they don’t work, it could be 2023 by the time they are rescheduled.
“The remaining weekends of the year are performed by other artists including Sting and Rod Stewart.
“She is expected to remain a part of The Brit Awards next month and she has two standout gigs at Hyde Park on July 1 and 2.
“Adele’s schedule is tight and rescheduling is a challenge but she is dedicated to her fans and will do anything to get them back on track quickly.”
In the video released on her social media channels late on Thursday, the North London-born singer sobbed: “I’m so sorry but my show isn’t ready yet.

Angry fan, Veronica
“We tried absolutely everything we could to pull it together at the right time and good enough for you but we were completely devastated by the delivery delays and Covid. Half of my crew, half of my team, failed Covid – they still are. It cannot end the program.
“I can’t give you what I have right now and I’ve gutted. I apologize for it being so last minute.
“We were up for over 30 hours trying to figure it out and we ran out of time. I’m so sad and I’m really embarrassed and I’m so sorry to those who have traveled. “
She is supported by other stars, as well as many fans. US singer Pink – scheduled to announce his own Las Vegas residency this year – commented, “Honey, you were there.
“The pressure is immense and I am so sorry for all of you. It will come together and it will be amazing when it happens.”
Adam Lambert, who performed with Queen, added: “It’s good for you to be honest and open about it. I’m sure the show is well worth the extra wait. Send a tight hug. ”
In 2017, Adele had to cancel two finals at Wembley Stadium after injuring her vocal cords.
A year earlier, she had filmed an emotional video explaining to fans that her illness had forced her to postpone a show in the US.
Back in 2011, her Adele Live tour was also canceled by cancellations in both the US and UK because of problems with her vocal cords. She went on to have surgery.
Adele’s fourth album 30 was released on 19 November and became the best-selling album of 2021 in both the UK and US.
Prezzie is ruined
A BRIT person who bought tickets for his wife and daughter said the Christmas present was ruined when Adele abruptly canceled it.
David Stokoe was joining them in Vegas and was outside Caesars Palace when he heard the news.
David, from Co Durham but lives in Florida, tweeted a photo of the venue and wrote: “Christmas gift disappeared pear shape as my wife and daughter were on their way.”
Fan Gillian Rowland-Kain, 32, heard about the cancellation of a flight from New York with her twin sister.
Brooklyn’s attorney said: “Yesterday Adele learned that the show wouldn’t be ready tomorrow. Her lack of attention was amazing. I am angry and frustrated.”
