Adrian Edmondson will voice the character Mr Toad in the new animated series based on The Wind In The Willows.
The actor will head a talented cast of contemporary UK talent to bring the waterfront adventures of Mole, Toad, Ratty and Badger to a new generation of audiences.
The series, titled Toad And Friends, will premiere on Warner Bros Discovery’s Cartoonito elementary school label in 2023.
It is based on the classic British novel by Kenneth Grahame first published in 1908.
Along with Edmondson, the cast includes Reuben Joseph as Ratty, Rish Shah as Mole, and Seanna Kerslake as Hedge.
Other actors who will appear in the film include Ryan Sampson as Smudge/Kingfisher, Amalia Vitale as Tinker/Heron/Adder and Simon Paisley Day as Badger and Chief Weasel.
Edmondson described his character as “obstinate” but “very enthusiastic” and said he “plays a version of him in my own life”.
“I read The Wind In The Willows as a child and also gave it to my kids as a bedtime story – it was a fun book to read, especially read aloud,” he said.
Toad is a very enthusiastic person, so am I. His enthusiasm is real, never fakeAdrian Edmondson
“I thought at the time that my Toad was pretty brilliant – pretty big, in the same way that Toad was pretty big.
“Toad is a very enthusiastic person, so am I. His enthusiasm is real, never fake.
“You want people like that in the world who really like things and people who want to go after it, so I always loved him and I loved playing him.

“I play a version of him in my own life, and always have. Me and my best friend Troy email each other as if they were written by Toad – a geek who doesn’t care much about the rules and likes to have a good time.”
