Affectionate moment between Kate Middleton and Princess Charlotte captured on camera

The close bond between the Duchess of Cambridge and her daughter was evident at the Platinum Jubilee Party concert at the Palace, leaving many fans emotional

A tender moment between the Duchess of Cambridge and their daughter Charlotte left royal fans ecstatic last night.

Kate, 40, and seven-year-old Princess Charlotte sat side by side in the royal box during the three-hour concert, enabling many classic parenting moments.

This included a sweet moment of Kate fixing her daughter’s hair – while Charlotte looked exhausted after her long day, which included her first official trip to Wales.

One fan wrote: “A sweet moment between Catherine and Charlotte today at the #PlatinumPartyimPalast.”

Another said: “I think she was getting tired and wanted to lay her head on her mum’s knees.”

A third joked: “Okay where’s the candy mama?”

The Cambridge children had a busy weekend as Charlotte accompanied her brothers George, eight, and Louis, four, to Trooping The Colour.

Louis stole the show with their expressive faces during the event – and his question to the Queen during the RAF flypast.

Then George and Charlotte accompanied Prince William and Kate to Cardiff without Louis yesterday morning before attending the concert at Buckingham Palace.

On a surprise visit to Cardiff Castle during rehearsals for the Platinum Jubilee Celebration Concert held on the premises, they impressed the audience with their musical and technical skills.

Charlotte took the opportunity to lead the orchestra in a rendition of We Don’t Talk About Bruno from the Disney film Encanto.

Meanwhile George, who will one day be crowned Prince of Wales, took the lead in the engineering booth and took the opportunity to play with the sound and light decks, asking what all the buttons mean.

Throughout the concert, the royal children appeared to be enjoying themselves as they were seen waving their flags and singing along to various performances.

Rock band Queen, whose guitarist Brian May performed at the last party at the Palace rooftop of Buckingham Palace in 2002, was joined by singer Adam Lambert, while Eurovision star Sam Ryder also took the stage in a glittering Union Jack suit .

Sir Elton John appeared in a recorded performance and live performances were also given by Alicia Keys, Nile Rodgers, Andrea Bocelli, Hans Zimmer, Ella Eyre, Craig David, Mabel and Elbow.
