Whoopi Goldberg, 66, helped Joy Behar to her feet after tripping on The View. The 76-year-old stumbled as she took the stage, causing the audience to gasp
Whoopi Goldberg rushed to the aid of Joy Behar after she suffered a dramatic fall on the set of The View.
The 79-year-old was walking onto the stage when she fell to the ground before reaching her seat.
The audience gasped when the host slipped, but Whoopi, the show’s host, immediately helped her, telling her to “come on, just get up.”
Joy’s co-hosts Sara Hains and Sunny Hostin were visibly shocked as they rushed over to help.
A production assistant was seen holding Joy’s chair to make sure she sat down securely.
Thankfully, the comedian and TV host saw the funny side, joking, “25 years this has never happened – who am I suing?!”
She also took the time to warn others about the dangers of falling, adding: “The main thing – just talk seriously – when Bob Saget fell, he died.”
“If you hit your head and feel dizzy or your vision is blurred or you feel like going to sleep, see a doctor. Because that will kill you.”
She finished on a light note, saying, “I’m a chub.”
Her ouster came after she faced backlash over her “toneless” comment about Vladimir Putin’s invasion of Ukraine.
She said on the February 24 episode, “I’m also scared of what’s going to happen in Western Europe,” Behar said.
“You’re planning a trip, you want to go there, I’ve wanted to go to Italy for four years and I couldn’t make it because of the pandemic and now this. It’s like, what’s going to happen there? “
She had made the controversial comments after Sunny explained the current situation in Ukraine.
Sunny said: “It is estimated that 50,000 Ukrainians will be dead or wounded and this will trigger a refugee crisis in Europe,” Hostin had said. “We are talking about 5 million people being displaced. It’s heartbreaking to hear what’s going to happen.”
New York Post columnist Karol Markowicz hit out at Joy’s comment: “Did Putin even pause to consider how his invasion would affect Joy Behar’s trip to Italy?”
Sports commentator @KFCBarstool said: “The real horror of the global pandemic and Russia’s invasion of Ukraine? Joy Behar was unable to make her trip to Italy,” he wrote. “Thoughts and prayers for joy. We hope she survives this tragedy.”
Whoopi also recently found herself in hot water after being temporarily suspended after receiving backlash over comments about the Holocaust.

In January, she claimed the murder of six million Jews and other victims was “not about race.”
ABC News President Kim Godwin said she was suspended for two weeks for her “incorrect and hurtful comments.”
Her explanation read: “Although Whoopi has apologized, I have asked her to take the time to reflect and learn more about the impact of her comments.
“The entire ABC News organization stands in solidarity with our Jewish colleagues, friends, families and communities.”
