Aviva Life and Pensions Ireland has appointed Barry Cudmore as the Group’s new Chief Executive Officer.
He will take up the position in the first half of 2023 and will work with Dave Swanton, the interim CEO, to manage the transition.
Mr Swanton took on the role in July this year following news that former CEO David Elliot was returning to the UK parent company after two years in the role.
Mr Elliot was at the helm for two years following the departure of Tom Browne and is now Managing Director of the Group’s Pensions Solutions in London.
Mr Cudmore is the current Chief Financial Officer at UK insurer LV= Life and Pensions and has over 25 years of senior management experience.
He was previously CFO of insurance group Athora Holding and Chief Executive of Aegon Ireland. He lives in Ireland, studied actuarial science and finance at University College Dublin and is a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries.
“Given the strength of the company and the pace of market innovation, this is a really exciting time to enter the business,” he said.
“Barry has a wealth of relevant experience in Ireland and internationally and is well positioned to lead this business as we drive growth,” added Doug Brown, CEO of Aviva UK & Ireland Life.
