After long delays, the Sandy Hook defamation trial of Alex Jones is approaching

InfoWars host Alex Jones faces the parents of Sandy Hook Elementary School victims on charges of defamation as jury selection for the trial began Monday. Jones had falsely claimed on his show that the 2012 mass shooting in Newtown, Connecticut, which killed 20 students between the ages of 6 and 7, was a hoax.

The long-delayed trial will take place in Austin, Texas, where Jones is broadcasting his program. The trial will determine how much he owes the parents of eight Sandy Hook victims.

The parents and an FBI agent claim they suffered death threats and harassment under Jones’ conspiracy theory. Jones has ignored court orders delaying the trial for months and claims he does not accept the charges even though he has already been found liable.

“No, I take no responsibility for not trying to cause pain and suffering,” Jones said, according to transcripts released this month.

“They are being used and their children, who cannot be brought back, are being used to destroy the First Amendment,” he added.

Jones claimed in court that he owed $20 million. Sandy Hook’s parents’ legal team claim that Jones has amassed millions from donations and products he sells on his show. After long delays, the Sandy Hook defamation trial of Alex Jones is approaching
