That’s what Ubisoft revealed The department 2 finally gets new content. This is the game’s first major patch of 2022, and it’s coming alongside a new season. Season 9: Hidden Alliance features the usual: a new objective, new gear and weapons, and a new Battle Pass.
But there are also plenty of free additions in the form of Countdown co-op and a new weapon upgrade feature called Expertise. Hidden Alliance launches this Thursday, May 12th.
Countdown is an eight-player co-op mode in which everyone must clear a power plant of enemies and other dangers. Players are split into two teams of four and only have 15 minutes to get the job done. Each team is deployed to a different location and faces unique challenges and objectives. Think of it as a sort of raid-lite experience.
Expertise, on the other hand, is a feature that allows players to upgrade items simply by using them. The more times you use an item or weapon, the more ranks you gain with it. Once an item reaches the highest rank, you can upgrade its base stats.
The Expertise level takes into account any items you level up, which in turn opens up the possibility of changing the level of the item. The good news is that both ranks are account-wide, so each of your characters will progress towards the same goal.
On the cosmetic side, you can expect two apparel events during Season 9. If that sounds interesting to you, The Division 2 is launching a free weekend across all platforms between May 13th and 15th.
Hidden Alliance is the first of three seasons planned for 2022, although Ubisoft hasn’t said what new gameplay content we can expect from the other two seasons.
Ubisoft initially promised that new Division 2 content would arrive in late 2021, but pushed it back to February 2022 and then again to an unspecified date in 2022. Division 2 has since been running again in previous seasons.
