And as for the claim that excess facial oil causes breakouts, Brenda says: “It’s a total lie, especially as you get older. It’s one of the best things to do to cleanse your face.”
The beauty enjoys a high-protein diet, which includes regular protein shakes, as well as a green smoothie a day.
And while we also say regular exercise is key to staying healthy, Brenda admits she’s more interested in listening to her body than working out for hours a day, and urges those who don’t. Others apply the same thinking.
“Don’t feel bad if you don’t meditate or you don’t really exercise because I don’t really enjoy any of that at this stage of my life,” she explains.
“Mindfulness is really important, connecting with your body and getting to the point where if you’re stressed out over being angry with your kids or something, you know when to get out of a situation. there.”
Instead of hitting the gym and exhausting herself, Brenda prefers to relax in the tub with a glass of wine for a “really luxurious experience”.
And the mother also puts her age-defying looks down to a lack of stress in her life, as she says treating herself with care and compassion has helped her stop putting so much pressure on yourself to achieve success.
“When you’re young, you tend to get over things,” she said, “but yesterday I was teaching a course and I had to text them, ‘I’m really sorry, I’m not feeling well’. I might struggle to get through it. But I don’t want to and I won’t be the best anyway.
“And I just went to bed and forgot everything I needed to do so I could focus on feeling better. You get nowhere by constantly pushing yourself. “
By following her own secret to a youthful look, Brenda has surprised strangers when they see her with her family – some even mistook her for her 23-year-old son’s girlfriend. .
“We were walking on the street in Turkey, me and my son, and my partner walking behind with two kids. People ask my son if I’m his girlfriend, and he just rolls his eyes as if to say, ‘Let’s go again’. It happened more than once,” she said.
As for getting older, Brenda says although she would never say never to have cosmetic treatments, she hopes to aim for her 50s and beyond naturally.
“There is a part of me that worries about how I will look when I get older,” she notes. I hope that I will want to age gracefully. It is a fact of life. I like to think I’ll embrace that. “
