Big breakfast returns to Channel 4 after 19 years

AJ Odudu and Mo Gilligan will host the return of The Big Breakfast when it returns to our small screens this summer.

First debuted in 1992 as a weekday morning show, the popular show last aired in its original format more than two decades ago.

However, it has been announced that the show will be returning for four weeks in August and AJ and Mo, both 34, have been confirmed as the faces of the show.

The couple sat in the front seats when Channel 4 aired a one-time special last year as part of the Black To Front project, watching air shows on the television with black stars and featuring people. black contributions.

The project is part of Channel 4’s commitment to represent and support underrepresented audiences and communities.

AJ and Mo were awarded the Royal Television Society for entertaining performance earlier this year for their efforts in the special.

The new setup will see the show airing live on Saturday mornings for two and a half hours.

AJ and Mo will welcome a host of guests to the show and dissect some of the hot topics of the day.

Speaking of the show, AJ said: “There’s really nothing like The Big Breakfast on our screens.

“I enjoyed hosting it last year and I look forward to returning home to kick off summer weekends on this now award-winning show.”

Mo added: “I love being on this incredible history-making show. The whole team was breathtaking and I was delighted to work with AJ – she is one of the best in the business.

“And now a live summer series? Let’s go!”

The show became popular during the original run and was presented from The Big Breakfast House.

Several famous faces have taken on presenter duties before, Chris Evans, Gaby Roslin, Zoe Ball and Denise van Outen.

Phil Harris, Channel 4’s head of entertainment, said: “Mo and AJ both have their own primetime entertainment on Channel 4 this year with The Lateish Show and The Bridge, so it’s exciting to be able to harness their synergy and great chemistry to hit the morning schedule again.”

The Big Breakfast will air live on Channel 4 on Saturday mornings in August.
