AJ Pritchard Says Getting Seriously Harder After Completing Celebrity SAS

AJ Pritchard has said that he feels serious to dance harder than Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins after becoming one of the contestants who passed the Channel 4 endurance show.

The 27-year-old professional dancer was announced as one of four contestants who successfully completed the course in Sunday’s finale after overcoming a series of extreme challenges.

The series sees 14 celebrities undergo military training exercises to test their physical and mental strength while battling the heat of the Jordan desert.

Along with Pritchard, EastEnders actress Maisie Smith, former The Only Way Is Essex star Ferne McCann and reality TV personality Calum Best also passed the course taught by Rudy Reyes herself.

When asked if he would find his time on Serious, where he was a professional dancer for four series, or the more challenging Celebrity SAS, Pritchard told the PA news agency: “It’s one thing. really difficult.

“I think for me, SAS is very therapeutic and very beautiful and I feel like I have achieved what I wanted.

“But Strictly itself, as a professional dancer, you are a life coach, you are the driving force, you are the one who puts it all together and tries together when it gets tough mentally and Physically, Strictly is a hell of a lot longer at six months.

“And maybe if SAS in six months it is difficult but Seriously with six months it is harder than SAS. I have to be open and honest about that.

“You are a life coach through and through – therapist, taxi driver, everything else that comes with it.”

He added: “Emotionally when you have someone riding a roller coaster every week happy, sad, happy, sad – it’s hard to keep up.”

Pritchard started Celebrity SAS with his brother and professional dancer Curtis but he was eliminated in episode four.

He said that after his brother left, he felt he had to complete the course for the Pritchard name.

He said: “When Curtis left, he obviously gave me a lot of hugs and he was like ‘You guarantee you won’t stop for anything’ and that one sentence in itself was like ‘I are behind you. Now you’ve got double the energy’.

“It’s the kind of brotherly love and the kind of commitment. I know he was with me all the way to the end because that energy is unspeakable but even putting it into words is really emotional. I think that’s why I was so upset when he left.”

The series saw Pritchard open up about how his ex-girlfriend Abbie Quinnen was severely burned after a confusing YouTube stunt.

During interrogation sessions, he was questioned by veterans Billy Billingham and Jason Fox about the impact of the incident.

Reminiscing on how Celebrity SAS has helped her, Pritchard told PA: “The reason why I joined the show was to deal with a situation where I didn’t mind making decisions in a split second.

“And being really open with Billy and Foxy there in that mirror room, it was so rewarding for me to actually watch it again.

“Because even when you go to therapy and you talk about a situation, or even when you talk to your friends and family, you talk about it.

“And watching it again and hearing myself talk and hear the vibrations in my voice, how raw it was and how it opened up for me… it was really helpful to review it. .”

The original SAS: Who Dares Wins saw civilians go through military training exercises to test their physical and mental strength, and the celebrity spinoff comes out in 2019 .

The series also features former soccer player Ashley Cain, Love Island winner Amber Gill, Olympic sprinter Dwain Chambers, Olympic taekwondo gold medalist Jade Jones, boxer Shannon Courtenay, Paralympic high jumper Jonathan Broom-Edwards, Towie star Pete Wicks, Olympic javelin champion Fatima Whitbread and Brookside actress Jennifer Ellison.
