Alan Carr reveals he had a secret relationship with the ITV star

Alan Carr opened up about his year of “trash” in a candid new chat following his split from husband Paul Drayton.

The 46-year-old comedian spoke about his personal challenges in a new chat with presenter Laura Boyd for tonight’s What’s On Scotland episode.

Alan revealed he started writing a book about his marriage to Paul before their relationship fell apart.

“I wrote it before Covid,” he told Laura, adding: “We’ve got a week to go and it’s all written and done. It’s about me getting married and Adele ordained especially being to marry me and Paul.

“But then, during Covid, the relationship fell apart and I got divorced when we got to the other end. So that’s probably my most personal thing. [tour], but it works and it’s pretty rough and I go to places that I don’t usually talk about. It’s like a real therapy. “

Alan explained that professionally it was “awesome”, but shared that his personal life was “trash”.

He continued: “Life gave me one of those years. Professionally it was great but personally it was a bit of a piece of trash.”

Alan continued: “I’m a joiner, I love working, I love coming up here [to Scotland]. I know there are some comedians who don’t want to get ahead of Watford, but not going to Scotland is out of the question. “






The couple ended their marriage due to the door lock

He confirmed that next year he will focus on work-life balance and will take some time off to focus on himself.

“Next year you’ll probably see a little less Alan. I’ll deal with it myself,” he added.

“I think I’m ready for it and, who knows, I might find love. I might find a nice Scottish man. There’s a man wading in the river. [in Inverness] and I like a man in wading…”

Alan previously mentioned breaking up with Lorraine Kelly during an appearance on her show.

Talking about the breakup, he said: “Oh me and Paul, 14 years-“

“It’s been a long time,” commented Lorraine while Alan quipped: “In gay years, it was 207 years!”

He continued: “I wrote the tour, and then our marriage fell apart during Covid, because it was so stressful…

“And then I went on stage and I just said, ‘Well, this doesn’t make sense, this doesn’t make sense.’

“So now we’re divorced, he’s excited about the future, I’m excited about the future.

“We will always remain friends because we’ve been through a lot together.”
