Alan Fletcher considers going to medical school after Neighbors finale

Loyal neighbor Alan Fletcher has said he is considering studying medicine after spending 28 years studying Dr. Played Karl Kennedy on the soap opera.

Letcher was among the longest-serving cast members on the Australian series before it ended last week after 37 years on TV screens.

Fan favorite Dr. Kennedy debuted in 1994 and served as the primary care physician for many of the main characters in the fictional Ramsay Street.

Speaking at the Magic Radio Breakfast after the last episode aired, Fletcher was asked if he ever took on the role of the doctor.

He said: “I’m not trying. But while I was with Neighbors, I don’t actually give medical advice because I’m genuinely concerned that the authorities might track me down.

“But now that I’ve finished Neighbors, I’m thinking about actually going into medicine.”

Reflecting on the finale, he added: “All I can tell you is that we’ve already celebrated a show that people have loved for 37 years.

“We want to see tears in people’s lounges across the UK. That’s our goal.

“As we thank the audience for being on the journey with us, it’s a great ending, I think it’s a beautifully crafted ending. Hopefully people will be happy with that.”

Fletcher praised the show for launching the careers of pop stars Kylie Minogue and Jason Donovan, and Hollywood actors Guy Pearce and Margot Robbie.

“To me, enjoyment is the pinnacle of what Neighbors can achieve when it comes to educating and guiding people,” he said when asked about Oscar-nominated Robbie.

“Mind you, when she got into the studio very early… Jackie Woodburne, who plays Susan, literally turned around and said, ‘Okay, she’s awesome.’

“She has everything. She can do comedy, she can do wonderful drama.

“Margot is a natural who was always destined to be at the top. She is just wonderful, absolutely wonderful.”

The finale of Friday’s double episode on Channel 5 drew an average of 2.5 million viewers, according to the broadcaster.

It said this was the highest appearance for the show on the channel since moving in 2008. Alan Fletcher considers going to medical school after Neighbors finale
