Alan Titchmarsh joins Tom Cruise and Dame Helen Mirren leading the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations
Alan Titchmarsh joked that he would be supported by Hollywood actor Tom Cruise at the Jubilee celebrations.
The 73-year-old joined Tom and Dame Helen Mirren leading the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations.
Together they will attend the televised event at Windsor Castle, which will see performers re-enact some of the Queen’s unforgettable moments.
When asked how he feels about being compared to Mission Impossibility actor Tom in this celebration, Alan explained: “Well, it raised eyebrows and made a few comments, but it also event enhancement.
“At least I’ve been described as ‘The Gardener,’ so I’ll do it, although as well as being a man of the earth, I’ve also been a TV presenter and talk show host for over thirty years now.
“I just want to get out there and do a good job and I’m sure Tom Cruise feels the same way.”
Other stars participating in the event include Damien Lewis and Bridgerton’s Adjoa Andoh, who will host one of four acts.
The star-studded guest list includes Sir Mo Farah, Sir Trevor McDonald, Moira Stuart and Ant and Dec.
The celebration will last two hours and include 1,300 performers, 500 performers and will cover some 400 years of royal history.
Dame Helen has the key role of playing Queen Elizabeth I while Omid Djalili will play the narrator.

Discussing what he thinks the Queen will enjoy most, Alan said: “There’s no doubt the horses will lift the Queen’s spirits, but I hope she’ll feel the same way. moved in the presence of so many people, both on stage and in the audience, who were there not only to enjoy the spectacle but also to say ‘Thank you’ for the job well done, and wish you all the best. she’s nice in the future.
“Kindness, she has earned our respect!”
Hosted all night by TV favorites Phillip Schofield and Julie Etchingham.
“What a huge milestone – it’s an honor to be involved and to be asked to return after the Diamond Year,” said the ITV host.
“The 70th anniversary of the reign of an English king has never happened before, so it is hard to believe that we are participating in an important piece of history that the British public will look back on for years to come. .”
