ALBION fans swarmed in the summer heat during Saturday’s goalless draw against Newcastle at the Amex Stadium.

Seagulls supporters donned the new gear and carried placards and flags as blue and white smoke bombs greeted the team at their first home game of the season.

Some even wore umbrella hats as Brighton baked at 30C.

Graham Potter’s side look almost in front in the first half with a try from Solly March only to be cleared by Kieran Trippier at the very last opportunity.

Albion built their dominance as the game went on, but the side were unable to repeat their 2-1 win over Manchester United after an Adam Lallana header was blocked by Nick Pope in the second half.

Welcoming the result, the Seagulls manager said: “To compete as we have and to maintain that in as difficult conditions as I can remember I’m just proud of the lads.

“I loved the performance, I loved what they tried, so it’s really positive.

“If there was one team that would win, it would be us.”

Albion, unbeaten in their first two games of the season, are now sixth in the Premier League – behind Leeds but ahead of Tottenham.

Manchester United, who beat the Seagulls in their first game of the tournament, are currently in last place.
