Aldi is known for its bargains and special buys – but at the discounter there are ways to save even more money.

An insider at the Supermarket explained how to get the best special buys – and revealed all about a “secret” sale most shoppers don’t know about.

Aldi Buying managing director Julie Ashfield said it’s all about timing and knowing where to look.

For example, special buys are posted in mid-aisle stores every Thursday and Sunday.

But you can pre-order most items online first – meaning you don’t even have to visit an Aldi to pick up the latest offer.

Aldi has a dedicated page on its website where you can see what special purchases are due in stores and online.

How to save money in the supermarket

“My top tip is to pre-order products online – this way shoppers can get their hands on the very latest special buys before the sale date,” said Julie The sun.

Some items are only available online so be sure to check the Aldi website first so you don’t miss out on any bargains.

Be warned though, the most popular special buys often attract virtual queues of thousands of people.

One of the best examples is the famous egg chair or Aldi garden furniture.

Aldi shoppers may also not know that they can get a range of special buys at an even cheaper price.

The supermarket has one sales area on his website where you can find special buys that are no longer commercially available at a lower price.

Buyers will no doubt still try to narrow down after purchase warned of a £180 price hike at her grocery store due to the cost of living crisis.

That’s according to consultancy Kantar, which has found annual food inflation at 3.8% over the past four weeks, up from 3.5% in December.

Another way to save cash at Aldi is to look out for discounts of up to 75% on groceries that are out of date but still edible.

Instead of yellow stickers, Aldi uses red discount labels.

Times when items are discounted vary by store and are sold on a first come, first served basis – so look out for red stickers.

If you miss the 75% deals, the supermarket also has a system where they discount certain goods by 30% if the packaging isn’t perfect.

This includes items like rice, pasta, cereal, and canned goods.

Aldi also harvests six types of fruit and vegetables every two weeks, which are reduced in price as part of its “Super Six” campaign.

The same applies to the fresh meat range, which is reduced by six items every two weeks – both in the shop and online.

You can see the offer on the Aldi website.
