GOOGLE will soon introduce a feature designed to prevent people from seeing offensive images.

The new feature was announced yesterday as part of Safer Internet Day.

It is similar to a feature already used on many social media platforms

The company is still perfecting the feature that will reach billions of Google users in the coming months.

By default, the SafeSearch feature blurs explicit images in search results for all users.

This is the case even if users do not have SafeSearch enabled.

The filter is already the default for logged in users under the age of 18.

Google users can adjust their settings if they don’t have a supervised account.

“If your account is not overseen by a parent, school or administrator, you can change your SafeSearch setting at any time,” Google spokeswoman Charity Mhende told The Verge.

The blur obscures explicit imagery, such as nudity or violence, but not text or links.

However, users can weaken their settings to limit an account’s exposure to all three.

It mirrors a feature already used by social media apps like Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram as it attempts to limit people’s exposure to some of the horrors of the internet.

Google is also rolling out new privacy protections for its iOS app, meaning Apple iPhone users can access the new security features from their smartphones.
