Alert to millions of WhatsApp users – group chats are changing forever

WHATSAPP is testing a big change to group chats to make your life more peaceful.

The impressive update is currently being tested – and may already be live on your phone.

WhatsApp recently started testing maximum group sizes of up to 1,024 people.

To deal with this, WhatsApp is testing a new feature that will automatically mute very large groups when you join them.

It was spotted by WhatsApp investigators this week WABetaInfowho reported that the feature is now rolling out in the beta testing app.

Auto-mute turns on when you try to join a group with more than 256 participants.

“Because you’re always in control of your groups and notifications, you can always restore notifications for a muted group chat,” explains WABetaInfo.

Of course, it’s currently impossible to have a group larger than 512 members on the live version of WhatsApp.

And it’s unclear when exactly these changes will roll out to the general public.

Just last month, it emerged that WhatsApp was testing massive group sizes.

Whatsapp Group size was originally limited to 100 people before changing to 256 people in 2016.

Then, earlier this year, WhatsApp upped that to a frankly whopping 512 people.

WhatsApp is now testing maximum group sizes of up to 1,024 participants.

How to get WhatsApp beta

To download WhatsApp Beta for your smartphone you have to go Google Play on yours Android and search for whatsapp.

Scroll down the page until you see “Become a Beta Tester”.

Tap the “I’m in” button, then tap “Join” to confirm.

Now all you have to do is wait for the update to the beta version of the app.

Join the WhatsApp beta iOS to the iPhone is more difficult and has a limited capacity.
