Alexis Mac Allister enjoys 100 touch goal with Brighton

Alexis Mac Allister has revealed the three-digit goal that keeps him at the heart of the action for Albion.

The midfielder should get at least 100 ball contacts per game in Roberto De Zerbi’s system.

His 137 appearances against Tottenham was the second most of any Premier League player this season. Mac Allister’s position hasn’t changed under De Zerbi, but the demands have changed.

And then you can see that I’m doing it.

“This is how Roberto wants me to play.

“I’m really happy because I like being on the ball every time.

“But we have to win, that’s the most important thing.”

Mac Allister says he’s been given extra responsibility as he accepts possession in deep areas, often with opponents nearby.

He added: “We know he wants to build up from behind and then have that superiority up front.

“Try playing between Moises and I, and then find whoever is playing as a ten – Pascal, Solly, Leo, Lallana or Danny.” That’s the idea.

“I think you can see it and we’re happy with this way of playing football.

“But like every footballer, we want to win and will try again on Saturday.”

Albion face the ultimate test as they take on champions Manchester City.

They’re looking to finish a streak of three spaces and Mac Allister said: ‘The goals will come. We have to stick to our style of play and we fully support Roberto.”
