Basil Brush has Alison and Dermot in hysteria on This Morning
This Morning’s Dermot O’Leary and Alison Hammond had a good laugh on Bank Holiday Monday, when Basil Brush joined them on the ITV studio for a live interview.
Comedy icon Basil appeared on the daytime show before his tour, chatting with Alison and Dermot as they stood in for Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield over the Easter break.
The legendary children’s TV personality brought carnage to the set and sent shockwaves through those present when he spewed some malicious jokes from the ITV kitchen counter.
Dermot asked the furry fox about his performance for the Royal Family in the 1980s to celebrate Prince William and Harry’s birthdays, asking if Princess Diana would make him a cup of tea.
Basil replied, “Oh, yes, she made me a cup of tea and she didn’t object when I dipped my ginger seeds,” to which Dermot collapsed and laughed, “Oh, man.”

Basil continued: “She was amazing. It’s actually pretty adorable and I’m so proud Lady Di took some amazing photos on her personal phone that were never released and I will cherish them.”
Basil later detailed his encounter with pop star Kylie Minogue, joking, “She’s about two and a half years tall, so I can wear her hot pants,” at which point Alison fell to the ground. The kitchen counter giggled.
When Dermot asked about the cuddly fox’s love life, Basil confirmed that he was “single and ready to mingle” and opened up about how he’d be on various dating apps.

He said: “I came across some of those dating apps. I’m on Fury Friends – it’s a fun one.
“When I got to Scotland, I actually invented an app called Highland Fling – it worked for me.
“When we got to the Edinburgh Fringe, we really established ourselves with a Grindr profile. I enjoyed doing it, taking pictures with the brush.”

Earlier in the show, Basil began with his own performance of Boom Boom Boom by The Outthere Brothers and even made a political reference to Partygate in the chat, saying: “According to Boris, mate mine, you can party while you work.”
In his first appearance on the ITV show, Basil, a small-screen favorite for the past 60 years, brought Alison and Dermot Easter presents, gave Alison a cuddly lamb and Dermot a half eaten easter egg.
This Morning airs at 10 a.m. weekdays on ITV and ITV Hub.
